Jimmy Choo's ballet inspired shoe collection

Jimmy Choo has been smitten by an artistic dance form to step out with its latest Autumn Winter 2015 collection. Inspired by Ballet, Sandra Choi, Creative Director, Jimmy Choo has designed the collection that draws on the powerful sense of emotion conveyed by the line of a dancer’s body and the palpable passion created by a single movement.

This open toed boot has a bondage aesthetic that is on trend for this season. A base of stretch nappa leather hugs the leg like a second skin, with tonal strap detailing criss crossing all the way up the leg and culminating in a wrap around tie at the knee.

Choi is finally settling into her own skin as Creative Director of the brand that was founded by her uncle, couture shoe designer Jimmy Choo. "The dance theme is one that I can tie to my own work world. Ballerinas need time to train, they have to have strength and they have to have this core discipline, and that reminds me of the spirit of Jimmy Choo,” Choi added.

New perspectives are explored in the 2015 Pre-Fall Collection which embraces the notion of trompe-l'oeil with designs that deceive the eye using dimensional colour blocking. Creative Director, Sandra Choi, was inspired by American artist James Turrell's work that plays with light and space creating images that aren't what they seem at first glance, eluding the eye and challenging perceptions.

For Jimmy Choo’s fall-winter 2015 campaign, the footwear and handbag brand looked to ballet for inspiration. Ondria Hardin poses on a brightly lit stage wearing the latest styles including sandals, booties and thigh-high lengths. With retro-inspired dresses and full bangs, Ondria is a cross between dancer and model in Jimmy Choo’s new advertisements.
